Last year I took a college course, Young Adult Lit. When I registered for the class I didn't know that many of the required books would fall into the LGBTQ genre - 15 books I would have never read otherwise found their way into my library! Although some were definitely better written than others, they were all profoundly deep - So much so, at times I was shocked at the "primary audience reading age group"! Spoiler, I'm a couple/few decades outside of the target audience.
Anyway, I'm reminded of one of the required books, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. Although there were times when I felt portions were rather unrealistic and the storyline somewhat predictable, the overall message was encouraging! Bonus, there are amazing music references throughout the book! Check it out!
